Padma Awards: Indian Government to Announces Recipients of Annual Awards 15 for Civilian Service on Republic Day

On the eve of Republic Day, the government has announced the list for the Padma Awards 2016. Eminent personalities from across the fields of sports, entertainment and public service are to be awarded the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri awards.

 

The Padma Bhushan awardees include- Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, sportspersons Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza, singer Udit Narayan, Ram Sutar, Former CAG Vinod Rai, Heisnam Kanhailal, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, Swami Tejomayananda, Prof N S Ramanuja Tatacharya, Prof D Nageshwar Reddy, Former US Ambassador to India Robert D Blackwill and Bennett, Coleman & Co’s Indu Jain.

Padma Vibhushan awardees include- Superstar Rajinikanth, Yamini Krishnamurthi, Girija Devi, Ramoji Rao, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar, Dr Viswanathan Shanta. Reliance Industries founder late Dhirubhai Ambani will also be awarded.

Among the Padma Shri awardees- Senior lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, actors Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra.
